It was obviously no easy decision to turn away from the ride on the Caulfield Cup favourite and one of the top Melbourne Cup fancies in Incentivise but, in the end, the logistics of trying to find the right path in the maze of strict state Covid-19 protocols that engulfs the country has proved to be a bridge too far for Glen Boss, who announced this afternoon that he was pulling the plug on those Melbourne ambitions and that he would be returning to Sydney with immediate effect.
Boss issued that statement from the Northern Territory where he had already entered quarantine before his proposed trip into Victoria.
In his statement Boss said, “The changing landscape of the world we live in at present sees my quarantine period in the Northern Territory cut short and I will be returning to Sydney with immediate effect,” Boss said.
“I have the utmost respect for our state and territory governments that manage the risks associated with border travel and the health and welfare of the communities that reside within those is paramount.
“I am extremely grateful to the connections of Incentivise who have afforded me the flexibility to make every possible endeavour to relocate to Melbourne this Spring.
“I am eagerly looking forward to my return to Sydney where I am focused and determined for success ahead of what promises to be a wonderful Spring Carnival.”
With the ride on Incentivise now up for grabs, the phones will be ringing hot right now … possibly both ways … as many top jockeys are sure to be chasing the ride while the connections of Incentivise themselves are likely to be just as active trying to nail down their preferred choice.
