Dual Group-1 winner Global Glamour will take on her own sex this weekend in the Fillies & Mares plate over 1300m on Magic Millions day. Last year’s runner up in the 3YO Guineas is coming off a Group 2 win at Caulfield during the spring carnival, defeating Cool Passion and Shillelagh in the Tristarc Stakes before finishing 3L behind Shoals in the Group 1 Myer Classic.
The 4-year-old couldn’t be in better shape for Saturday, winning a recent Randwick trial by 4L on the 29th of December. Trainer Adrian Bott spoke to Sky Sports Radio on Tuesday morning after Global Glamour completed a gallop on the course proper, stating she was well prepared for the race.
“I thought she was excellent this morning,” he said of the Fillies & Mares top-weight.
“I thought she was one of the stronger gallops from the team that we saw this morning, she’s been ticking over beautifully, I thought she came out of her spring preparation in such good order and she’s been thriving all the way through”.
Global Glamour is certainly the class of the field and will join a list of big names headlining the Magic Millions race day, including Payroll, Egyptian Symbol, Lucky Hussler, Kaepernick and Viddora.
Most notably, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained mare won the Group 1 Flight Stakes in October 2016 as well as the 1000 Guineas at Caulfield just 7 days later. She has defeated the likes of Foxplay, Missrock, Impending and current track record holder Lubiton on her way to winning $1,389,000 with 5 wins from 13 career starts.
Should it be confirmed Global Glamour will be a starter in the Fillies & Mares race, she has drawn barrier 10 and will carry 60.5kg. She is yet to be tried at 1300 however distance nor barrier will be an issue for the mare, winning up to a mile and overcoming a wide barrier to prevail on more then one occasion. Number 6-ranked NSW metro jockey Tim Clark will ride, chasing win number 12 this season for the Waterhouse & Bott Stable.
