Group One winning jockey Damien Thornton will miss a majority of the spring carnival after breaking his foot on Monday at Pakenham.
Damien Thornton was riding Surangani in the third race on the card when the horse clipped the running rail which crushed Thornton’s foot resulting in the fracture.
Thornton was gearing up for a big spring campaign after winning his first G1 in South Australia aboard Toffee Tongue earlier in the year.
