A leading Flemington stable has been caught up in a COVID scare with one of the track work riders attending an exposure site.
The Ellerton Zahra stable was shut down overnight after it was reported one of their track work riders attended an exposure site.
The track work rider however this morning returned a negative test although they are still waiting on another result.
“I just wanted to quickly inform everyone of the current situation at EZR. We’re waiting for the results of a second Covid test but the stable has been placed into lockdown until that result is returned. Our staff are here caring for the horses and we’re working closely with the VRC and Racing Victoria to develop a suitable protocol to continue to race and work the horses.
Please rest assured that your horses are being well cared for and are our upmost priority along with the welfare of our staff.
Simon will be discussing the issue on RSN this morning. This is a rapidly changing situation for the stable, industry and Melbourne, and we’ll be in touch when we have further details later today.” the EZ email read.
