Exciting three-year-old Archo Nacho has found new ownership in Hong Kong and is set to undergo training in the prominent Asian jurisdiction under the guidance of New Zealander Jamie Richards.
Trainer Matt Laurie officially confirmed the sale to Racing.com. Under Laurie’s tutelage, the progeny of Sioux Nation showcased a lot of potential, securing victories in three out of five starts in Victoria, including notable wins in the Listed Poseidon Stakes and Group 3 Red Anchor Stakes.
Originally acquired as a weanling for $10,000 in 2021, Archo Nacho had consistently attracted interest from Hong Kong buyers. Despite initial refusals of offers, Laurie acknowledged that the business dynamics of racing eventually led to a successful sale.
While expressing a desire to retain the talented horse, Laurie acknowledged the compelling attraction for owners with the deal. He mentioned, โI would love to have kept him; he’s a remarkable horse, but the offer was substantial. I had already taken the risk by turning down the initial proposal, and we felt he had achieved what we envisioned for him. It was time to bid him farewell and wish him the very best in his new journey.โ
