Training partners Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra are set to part ways at the start of December with the pair deciding to continue training independently.
An email was sent out to owners this morning outlining the pairs intention to train in their own right from December 1st this year.
The email:
To all our extremely valued clients, Mathew & Simon would like to announce their intention to pursue independent training endeavours.
The intentions of both parties to train as sole entities, was a decision not taken lightly but made amicably, off the back of our most successful season to date since their partnership began back in 2009.
The split will be made official from the 1st of December 2021
We want to thank you all for the tremendous support & patronage you have provided us with over the years, helping us to build one of the most successful city stables in Victoria, consistently maintaining our rank in the top ten on the trainers’ premiership in recent years.
Moving forward it will be business as usual, with the focus squarely on the continued training of our fantastic team of horses.
Horse welfare, the interests of our clients & our dedicated team of staff will as always be paramount. Further clarification on the upcoming changes will be swiftly provided & your ongoing support through this transition period is hugely valued & appreciated.
We will endeavour to answer any questions or queries you may have & assuage any concerns.
Thank you again for your unwavering dedication & support
“After over 20 years together and a lot of hard work to build the EZR brand I’d like to wish Simon all the best in his new endeavour, I couldn’t have done it without him. We’ve been through a lot of highs throughout the journey and long may it continue for us both. I’d also like to thank our ownership group and our loyal staff who have put in so much over so many years.
– Mathew Ellerton
“Its with a heavy heart that Mat and I after 22 years have agreed to go our own way to further our training careers. I’m very proud of our success and the team we created together at EZR. On the back of that I am excited to what the future brings and success for owners”
