Early Melbourne form will determine whether trainer Mick Kent will be a participant at the Dubai World Cup Carnival.
Kent is one of three Australian trainers to have horses accepted to run at the carnival which begins on January 11 and runs until Dubai World Cup night on March 31.
Sprinter Supido and middle distance performer Wyndspelle have been accepted to run at the carnival while Kent is considering a trip for Coldstone.
Abbey Marie was also nominated but Kent said the preferred option was to stay in Melbourne.
Supido is being aimed for a first-up tilt at the Group One Lightning Stakes at Flemington on February 17.
His performance in the 1000m sprint will determine whether he travels for the Al Quoz Sprint over the straight 1200m at Meydan on World Cup night.
Ortensia (2012) and Buffering (2016) both won the race.
“He’s a stallion and we’re keen to get a Group One with him,” Kent said.
“A trip to Dubai will be determined after he runs in the Lightning.”
Wyndspelle is set to resume in the Listed John Dillon Stakes at Caulfield on January 27.
Kent said the Dubai carnival appeals as there were a number of suitable races for the four-year-old who has a disliking for wet tracks.
“There’s only a few races here that are suitable for him leading up to the Australian Cup,” Kent said.
“We’ve nominated him for everything but it’s hard to know where his trip sits, a mile to 10 furlongs.”
Kent said Abbey Marie was on a path towards the Australian Cup and would start off in the Orr Stakes at Caulfield on February 10, progress to the Peter Young Stakes (1800m) two weeks later and then on to the Australian Cup at Flemington on March 10.
The Bjorn Baker-trained Music Magnate has been accepted with the sprinter to be aimed at the Al Quoz Sprint while Lindsay Park has Faatinah, Shaf and Mutamayel as carnival invitees.
Faatinah and Shaf are already in Dubai, having been transported there earlier this week with co-trainer Tom Dabernig saying the pair arrived in good order and settled in well.
