The Victorian breeding industry is mourning the loss of Trust In A Gust, the dual Group 1 winner.
Glen Eden Stud confirmed the passing of the cherished stallion on Tuesday.
Trust In A Gust, celebrated for his ten wins and earning over $1 million in prize money, was most renowned for his consecutive Group 1 victories in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and Toorak Handicap at Caulfield in 2014.
Purchased for $45,000 at the Inglis Premier yearling sale, Trust In A Gust, son of Keep the Faith, was a shining beacon for the Vobis Gold scheme with standout victories in the Vobis Gold Eureka, Carat, and Star.
Following his impressive racing career, he transitioned to stud duties in 2016 and covered nearly 300 mares during seven fruitful seasons.
Adam Sangster, who bred the stallion, remembered Trust In A Gust as a “true champion,” widely admired by breeders and enthusiasts alike.
Trust In A Gust’s enduring legacy was affirmed when his progeny, Tempest Charm, trained by Robbie Griffiths and Matt de Kock, recently claimed a victory at Kilmore.
