Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Craig Williams has been cleared to ride at this Saturday’s Magic Millions raceday in Queensland after recovering from a sprained ankle sustained at the Sunshine Coast.
The injury occurred when his mount, Tuff Tu Mus, became cast in the barriers and was subsequently scratched.
Despite being stood down from his remaining rides that day, he is now fully fit and ready for the lucrative Magic Millions meeting.
Prior to the incident, Williams showcased strong form with a running double in races two and three at the Sunshine Coast, underlining his readiness to compete.
“The reports have come back, and I’m clear to ride this coming Saturday,” Williams confirmed, thanking supporters for their well wishes.

Thank you for all of the kind messages over the last 24 hours. After my incident at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club yesterday, I’ll be back in the saddle riding this weekend. I’m so grateful for all of the on course medical staff and barrier attendants for their assistance! pic.twitter.com/SUQXeHh5J4— Craig Williams (@CWilliamsJockey) January 5, 2025
