UK import Lord Belvedere will miss the this years Spring Racing Carnival after suffering a colic attack late last month.
The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained galloper stamped himself as a serious 2019 Melbourne Cup contender at Flemington last month when he cruised to an easy two length win over 2500m at Flemington.
Following his win at Flemington the horses health deteriorated due to a bout of colic in which he had to undergo surgery.
“He’s come through it really well,” Eustace told Racing.com.
“It was a straightforward surgery, they didn’t have to remove anything from inside but he’ll be out for three months.
“It’s obviously disappointing and the timing is not ideal but we’ll now have to look forward to the Melbourne Cup in 2020.”
