Multiple Group 1 winner Think About It has died after suffering complications following colic surgery.
Proven Thoroughbreds confirmed the Australian-bred gelding was euthanised after his condition deteriorated at Randwick Equine Centre.
The seven-year-old was one of the standout sprinters of his generation, rising rapidly through the ranks during a remarkable 2023 campaign.
He went from midweek company to the very top level, winning two Group 1 races and claiming Australia’s richest event, The Everest.
Think About It added further elite success with victories in the Stradbroke Handicap and Kingsford Smith Cup.
His career took a dramatic turn in 2024 when he suffered a major pulmonary haemorrhage after falling in the Sydney Stakes at Randwick.
He was able to walk off the track, but the incident prompted an immediate decision to retire him from racing.
Placed in the care of regular jockey Sam Clipperton, he was expected to enjoy a quiet life after the track.
Affectionately known as ‘Spud’, Think About It was widely admired for his toughness, high energy and all-out racing style.
