The feature race at Rosehill this Saturday is The Rosebud (1100m), where the market says it is an open contest.

The Rosebud 2026 Runner Preview:
1. Hidrix: Nice horse but suspect that from the gate, he’s here for a barrier trial.
2. Tornado Valley: Had a busy juvenile season and his trial work has been quite good…hopefully can get a positive ride and is dangerous at odds.
3. Central Europe: Central Europe is a very interesting runner. Chris Waller trained colt that tried to get into the Slipper in the Autumn but couldn’t quite get the job done to qualify. Been given a good break and his trial work has been super. Commands respect.
4. Outspan: Intent is there with Freedman giving him the 1000m trial under the belt, so the grounding is there. Just needs luck from the draw.
5. Under Focus: Did some nice things when last in work but the gate makes things very tricky.
6. Blue Door: The hype is high with this girl…but, she was a lucky debut winner in the Kindergarten and the trial work to get ready has been solid without jumping up and down. I’m against her.
7. Chilly Girl: She was being talked up as a leading Slipper contender before injury struck. Trial work has been pretty good…she’s a definite market/yard watch.
8. Queen Regent: Big win at Scone before spelled…but the wide barrier means she is a DNP.
9. Eviction Notice: Better suited at 900m at Newcastle. Squib.
10. Castillo King: Castillo King comes here off the back of a mini freshen up, which saw him win quite impressively on debut at the midweeks at Warwick Farm. Tick over trial last week was pretty good, fitness on his side, he gets a great chance to pinch blacktype.
11. Hostwin King: I think he’s a nice horse but not quite sharp enough.
12. Oh Yes She Did: Usually have to respect Peter Snowden when he throws them in the deep end…but I don’t think she measures up.
13. Scintillation: Had the A1 run in transit and just got there to win at Randwick. Harder here and the end of 1100m is a query.
14. She’s Extra: Squib for Kris Lees I feel and will be better suited in something easier.
15. Royal Exile: Royal Exile is a big price here for mine. Yes, he beat nothing first up in the Springboard at Grafton, but he smashed them and ran very good time relative to the meeting, which included a strong Class 6. Always a good sign when a 2YO can run good time relative to the meeting and I think off a hot speed here, he’ll be strong at the end.
16. Striking Alibi: WA raider now with Chris Waller, trial work has been solid…market watch.
17. Suasion (First Emergency): Nice horse but looks outclassed.
18. Write Me A Letter (Second Emergency): Better suited in easier grade.
19. Half Pipe (Third Emergency): Not up to these.

I think they will go hard here. Eviction Notice will look to spear across from out wide but there is a stack of speed drawn underneath, with the likes of Chilly Girl, Blue Door, Striking Alibi and Castillo King, as well as potentially others, generating a strong tempo.
