Champion racehorse Saintly, the winner of the 1996 Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup for trainer Bart Cummings, has died aged 24.
Cummings’ son Anthony announced the death of the gelding known as the “horse from heaven” via Twitter on Friday morning
Saintly was retired from racing in 1997 with 23 career starts to his name for 10 wins and 11 placings amassing $3,852,000 in earnings with G1 wins in the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, Australian Cup and CF Orr Stakes.
