Champion jockeys Craig Williams and Hugh Bowman have been dealt another blow with stewards suspending the pair once again.
Only yesterday the two jockeys had failed in their attempts to overturn suspensions that were handed to them on Melbourne Cup day. Williams was able to reduce his 11 meeting suspension to 8 meetings, while Bowman’s 11 meeting suspension stood.
But their actions in the opening race on the Oaks Day card at Flemington has seen stewards whack the two jocks with respective 8 and 5 meeting suspensions added on to their current suspensions.
The suspensions mean that, pending an appeal, the two jockeys will be out until at least November 22.
Williams will to forgo the rides on Vega Magic in the Darley Classic and It’s Somewhat in the Emirates Stakes while Bowman had rides booked on Gingernuts in the Emirates Stakes and Impending in the Darley Classic.
Bowman heads to Japan on Sunday for a six-week riding stint but will be unable to ride until November 22.
