Champion American turf mare Moira is set to make her mark on Australian racing, with her debut locked in for the prestigious Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) on April 5.
Now owned by Yulong after being purchased for approximately $6.8 million, the high-class mare is in the hands of top trainer Chris Waller. General manager for Yulong, Vin Cox, confirmed on Monday that Moira will take her place in the big race, with Zac Purton booked to steer.
Her arrival is part of Yulong’s growing investment in elite US mares, aiming to bolster Australia’s racing scene.
Currently rated a $15 chance for the Doncaster with online betting sites, Moira’s future beyond this season remains undecided, depending on her performance.
