Jockey Caitlin Jones is eagerly anticipating her journey with Goldrush Guru as he heads to Rosehill for his Sydney campaign.
The Group 1 winner, trained by Andrew Gluyas, will target the G1 Rosehill Guineas and G1 ATC Australian Derby, and Jones is excited about the travel opportunities.
“It’s going to be a really good experience for me… I’ve never actually been to Sydney, just the airport, so it’s going to be nice to be there and have a look around too,” Jones told racing.com.
Jones, who made a comeback earlier this year after an injury, is also considering race riding at New South Wales’ provincial tracks.
“I’ll take some gear and ride outside work while focusing on Goldrush,” she explained.
Looking ahead, Jones sees potential in becoming a travelling foreman after her jockey career.
“Being a jockey is not forever, so it’s something I’d like to explore,” she added.
Jones has had a long connection with Goldrush Guru, having ridden him from his first start. “He’s always shown beautiful signs,” she said. “His last two runs have been special, and it’s a privilege to be part of his journey.”
