The feature race at Geelong this Wednesday is the Geelong Cup (2400m), where the market says it is an open contest.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for 2026 Geelong Cup.
2026 Geelong Cup Runner Preview:
1. Vauban: He is the class horse and has been given a good grounding for the first up run en route to the first Tuesday in November…I say he’s here to run very well.
2. The Euphrates: Had every possible in The Metropolitan and was beaten fair and square. Hard fit now, looks to get front end control and take running down.
3. Wootton Verni: Just don’t think he’s going well enough.
4. Berkeley Square: Blinkers go back on, but I don’t think he’s going well enough to trouble these.
5. Onesmoothoperator: Onesmoothoperator is very dangerous. He was there in the Herbert Power for a barrier trial it seemed. Back last, ridden very negatively and only got warm late in the piece. You’d think there is more intent here, he is a previous winner of the race, he appeals.
6. Soulcombe: I think Soulcombe is flying for Chris Waller. I thought he was sneaky good in the Naturalism before going to the Herbert Power when off speed and was good late without threatening behind Pinhole. 2400m, hard fit, big track, room to move…I think he’ll run very well.
7. Torranzino: Won the race last year and I reckon is flying. Ran last in the Might And Power but he ran very well and looks spot on for this. He’s a real knockout hope.
8. Point Of Law: I think good luck beating Point Of Law. He is raw/new to the caper from what has been seen in the UK, but he looks a rocket and will just eat up a trip. He’s here to play with a Melbourne Cup start on the line, and I think will be ridden as such, with plenty of intent. I think he’ll do a number on these and become Melbourne Cup favourite.
9. Valiant King: SCR
10. Small Fry: I want to be hard against him. He’ll stay, Joseph O’Brien polish…but if this becomes a sit/sprint, I don’t think he has the turn of foot.
11. Litzdeel: Map horse, ran well in the Bart Cummings…just has no turn of foot and will chip away. Is that enough to win?
12. Manzor Blue: Queens Cup on Champions Day would be a lovely race for her, maybe even The Beauford at Newcastle.
13. Omni Man: If he drew inside, a knockout hope. But the gate means he snags back and rides for luck.
14. Jennivamoose: Think she is sneaky flying. Doubt she runs here though. Reckon she runs on Saturday.
15. Hurry Curry: Won an awful edition of the Ansett Classic and looks well and truly up against it.
16. Asva: Tassie raider who stays but doesn’t have the class.
17. Vegas Jack: Home town chance but lacks the class.
18. Sapphire Siren (First Emergency): Not up to these.

2026 Geelong Cup Speed Map
I see little front end pressure here. The Euphrates should lead, and comfortably. The other speed, based on replays, could come from UK import Point Of Law, who has been on speed in recent runs and despite drawing wide, I think he can comfortably get across.
