After a spring carnival cut short by injury, Group One winner Boom Time is ready to make his return.

The 2017 Caulfield Cup winner won a jump-out at Flemington last week and is on target to run in the Group Three Victoria Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday.

Boom Time was turned out after injuring a suspensory following the Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield last August.

Lindsay Park co-trainer Tom Dabernig said Boom Time was progressing nicely for his return.

“He’d had a previous tendon injury and he injured the suspensory in the same leg,” Dabernig said.

“But at the moment he’s really sound and coping with the work well.

“My gut feel is he’ll take a run but he won’t have too big an autumn. We’ll give him a couple of runs and then keep him in work for the spring.

“He’s a big heavy horse and takes a bit to get him fit so he can have days out in the paddock but we’ll keep doing something with him.”

Dabernig said Boom Time had a jump-out at Bendigo before his Flemington hit-out over 800m.

He said the trip away from Lindsay Park’s country property at Euroa had switched the gelding on.

After Saturday’s race, Dabernig said Boom Time was likely to head to Adelaide for the Robert A Lee Stakes at Morphettville on May 18.

Joining Boom Time on Saturday will be stablemates Snitzson and Fastnet Tempest.

Both ran in the Anniversary Vase at Caulfield on April 6, finishing fifth and ninth respectively behind Naantali.

“Snitzson drew wide and went right back and ran on into fifth so I think he’s ready to do something,” Dabernig said.

“Jamie Kah said the other day if she had got a run on Fastnet Tempest she would have been right in the finish but he had a wall of horses in front of him.”

Dabernig said Snitzson and Fastnet Tempest could also join Boom Time in Adelaide.
