Nick Ryan has Group 1 aspirations for Regardsmaree who is set to resume in the Aurie’s Star Handicap at Flemington.

Flemington trainer Nick Ryan has enjoyed a good run of success since relocating from Caulfield and is eagerly awaiting the upcoming Spring Carnival.

While horses like Dice Roll, Mahamedeis, Express Pass and Reckoning have been flying the flag for the stable, Ryan is looking forward to the upcoming return of Regardsmaree.

A rising five-year-old son of So You Think, Regardsmaree is set to resume in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on August 7.

Joining Ryan from Henry Dwyer last campaign, Regardsmaree won four races from six starts and has not been seen since finishing fourth in the Echuca Cup (1400m) in March.

Prior to that, Regardsmaree showed his potential winning over 1400m at Flemington in February, defeating Buffalo River and Morvada.

Ryan has Group 1 aspirations for Regardsmaree and hopes to get the gelding to the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in September.

Regardsmaree had the second of his jump-outs at Flemington on Friday.

“He jumped out really well and will run first-up in the Aurie’s Star and third-up in the Sir Rupert Clarke,” Ryan said.

“He’s come back really well. It’s the first real prep he’s had with me from the start, so we’re really excited.

“He’s had two jump-outs. The first was a quiet one and the latest a bit more serious.

“He’s going terrific.”

Ryan had entered Regardsmaree for Saturday’s Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, but felt the extra time would prove beneficial.

“We just thought we would wait and run him up the straight in the Aurie’s Star on his home track,” Ryan said.

“It also allows us to get a little more work into him.”
