Well known Australian horse owner Ozzie Kheir along with the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace training operation have paid $3million dollars for a European stayer to target the horse at this years Cox Plate.
The group have purchased Coolmore stayer Sir Dragonet with the intention to target this years Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup.
“I’ve knocked back a lot of good horses waiting for this bloke … the aim is the Cox Plate and then the Melbourne Cup.” Khei said on RSN.
The 4YO son of Camelot ran fifth in the G1 Epsom Derby and fourth in the G1 St Leger as a three-year-old, he will enter quarantine next month with the WFA Cox Plate being his likely kick off race in Australia.
Following the news the TAB has shortened Sir Dragonet from $51 into $11 in Cox Plate odds.
