Gee whiz if you backed the Anthony Cummings trained GALACTIC ANGEL (Zoustar – Lucky Angel) at Hawkesbury today to run the quinella with the winner LUKEY LUKE (Denman – Somethin’ Leicajem) you’d be filthy right now.
The winner started $6.50 while Galactic Angel was a $31 chance and she ran 3rd. With 100m to go she had 2nd spot tied down, then former Queenaland hoop Wanderson D’vila, normally a very polished rider, just dropped his hands on her.
It was extraordinary and the filly slowed allowing STALKING (Animal Kingdom – Hold To Ransom) to roar past with 25m to go and grab 2nd.
Hughie Bowman was on Stalking and he had a front row seat to see what was happening and he kept at his mount right to the line.
Not only were some punters left empty handed and lamenting but connections of Galactic Angel would be feeling a little touchy right now.
