Star jockey Ruby Walsh pulled out a ride for the ages aboard the legendary Bashboy to win today’s Grand National Steeple and in doing saw online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au donate $10,000 to the Ballarat Foundation.
On top of donating $5,000 to the Foundation, Sportsbet offered up an additional $5,000 to the Foundation for every race Walsh won today.
“I’m overwhelmed with the response to me visiting and it’s great I’ve managed to raise some valuable funds for a local charity just by arriving thanks to Sportsbet. Hopefully I can raise some more by riding a couple of winners,” Walsh said prior to today’s races.
Despite drifting out to $7.00 prior to the race, Bashboy attracted double the money than any other runner in the race.
