What is your first racing memory?
Watching Doriemus win the Melbourne Cup on TV.
Who is your favourite horse and why?
In our stable it is Enchanted Jenni, she won three races in a row for us but I just love her personality.
Of all time it would have to be Jameka. I was lucky enough to ride and travel with her. She was special to me.
Who are the best horses you’ve been involved with?
Jameka, Gold Trip, Bella Nipotina, Bashboy, Loving Gaby and many more over the years working for Ciaron Maher.
And the best horses you have seen?
Black Caviar and Winx.
Who do you admire most in racing?
My partner Blake Shinn. He is so talented but also so dedicated and hard working.
Also Gai Waterhouse. She paved the way for women in racing.
What is one change/improvement you’d love to see in racing?
Make racing fun for the general public and get them attending the races. Also better conditions for stable staff.
What’s the funniest moment you’ve experienced in racing?
Sitting in the Caulfield trainers tower with the likes of Clinton McDonald, Ciaron Maher and Mick Price – too many funny moments to single one out.
What is your favourite racing moment/biggest thrill?
Training my first winner with my partner Blake in the saddle.
What is your favourite pastime outside of racing?
Spending time relaxing with my family and friends.
What is your favourite TV show?
I have terrible taste in TV, probably one of the Real Housewives series.
What slogan summarizes your outlook on life?
Work hard, have courage and be kind.
Favourite food?
Pasta and I love a Diet Coke.
Favourite racecourse?
I would have to say Sandown as that was where I trained my first winner.
If you weren’t a racehorse trainer what would you be doing?
Professional event rider.
