The early market Cox Plate favourite and Mark Kavanagh-trained mare ‘Atlantic Jewel’ has been ruled out of this years Spring Racing Carnival after reports she has hurt a tendon which has continued to cause the star mare issues.
Atlantic Jewel is a 4YO daughter of Fastnet Rock who has won seven from seven including the Group 1 Thousand Guineas and the Group 1 All Aged Stakes and has amassed earnings of $927,925.
Atlantic Jewel is owned by Coolmore breeding operation which could put doubt around her racing again.
New markets for the 2012 Cox Plate now have More Joyous as $6 favourite ahead of Pierro $7, Mosheen $8, All Too Hard $10, Manighar $17, with all Others $21+.
