UK stayer heads odds in The Beauford at Newcastle

Imported stayer King Frankel has been the early firmer with Ladbrokes.com.au for The Beauford (2300m) this Saturday at Newcastle.

The Mark Newnham trained former UK stayer has done little wrong since arriving in Australia and despite being scratched behind the barriers last Saturday, he is favourite to win this weekend, firming into as short as $2.90 from $4.20 before settling at $3.40.

Kukeracha opened the $3.70 favourite and has eased to $4.20. Chalk Stream and Gin Martini are next best at $6.50, the latter being rock solid.
