One of the feature races at Eagle Farm this Saturday is The Gateway (1400m), with the winner getting a free ticket into the Stradbroke.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 The Gateway.
2025 The Gateway Runner Preview:
1. Boomtown Boss: Boomtown Boss has to be one of the hardest to beat. I think you can make a case that this guy wins the Recognition two weeks ago. He got badly held up behind the speed before eventually getting clear late and drove hard to just miss. 1400m, Eagle Farm, clearly set for the race… it all points to him.
2. Tuned: He just got there at Rosehill on Sunday after getting a 12/10 ride, but he has come back a different/better horse since being gelded. Maps to get a beaut run once again and although I think this is harder, he commands respect.
3. Band Of Brothers: Band Of Brothers is three weeks between runs for Matty Dunn since a win over this trip at the Sunny Coast. He landed in a plum spot on speed and was always in control, finding when required to score. I think with a more patient steer, he will be stronger late and can win.
4. Apuntar: Okay return at Doomben and is suited up to 1400m but this looks too hard.
5. Tasoraay: Slight query at 1400m but if he does get front-end control, he becomes dangerous because he is a hard horse to get past when leading and controlling, as seen at Canterbury last start. He’ll look the winner… just the last 200m might see him out.
6. Brindavan: UK import making his Australian debut for Tony Gollan. 2000m/thereabouts is his distance I say but 1400m, off his trials, indicates he’s forward enough to run a positive race. Watch the market.
7. El Morzillo: I love the rider change because I do think she needs to be bashed and D Moor will do that, not Cejay. I wanted to find her but she just didn’t do enough in the Tatts Classic.
8. Poster Girl: Looks suited up to 1400m after two wins this time in, the latest being over 1200m at the Sunny Coast, finishing best from off speed. She can press forward and be effective late. Knockout hope.
9. Pierata’s Gem: Handy mare but not up to these.
10. Waku Waku: SCR
11. Ready To Schipp: Has earned a crack at this type of race. Dominant win last Saturday at Doomben when on speed, clicked up and away she went to win well. Clearly harder here, but think she’s in the mix.

2025 The Gateway Speed Map
Tasoraay looks the leader, and comfortably. Tuned has early speed but has been effective with cover so from the gate, likely lands box seat, 1/1, outside the leader at worst. Ready To Schipp likely lands the spot behind the leader. Apuntar could press forward from a sticky gate.
