The Cleaner ($15), with one wager of $15,000 and a swag of smaller bets, is the best supported runner with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au.
Hooked ($7.50) has plenty of admirers and favourite Contributor is steady at $5.00.
“The Cleaner was backed for a fortune when unplaced in the Cox Plate. It seems punters are a forgiving lot as the Tassie cult holds double the money than Hooked, who is the second best backed,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne.
Stradbroke winner River Lad, despite failing to fire in his two Melbourne runs, has also received support at $81 for the Flemington Group 1.
Sportsbet are giving money back to punters if their horse finishes 2nd & 3rd in the Emirates Stakes.
