Punters view Russian Conquest as the major threat to red-hot favourite Coolangatta in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with the pair taking up half of the money wagered with TAB, following the barrier draw at Surfers Paradise.
While Coolangatta (barrier 13) is now $1.85 after bottoming out at $1.70 overnight, Russian Conquest is into $7 from $8 yesterday with strong support after drawing barrier four. Soaring Ambition is the third best backed with TAB but has drifted from $11 to $14 after coming up with gate 20.
The biggest bet so far has been $13,000 on Coolangatta at $2 in late December with a separate $10,000 outlay at $1.70 last week.
Jamaea ($5) drew barrier 8 and is now favourite in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, replacing I Am Lethal ($6.50) who has barrier 21 and has slipped behind King Of Sparta ($5.50) to be on the third line of betting.
