A TAB punter is hoping that the Joe Pride-trained Eduardo can secure a slot in the world’s richest race on turf after placing a $10,000 bet at $34 on the seven-year-old gelding to win the TAB Everest at Royal Randwick on October 17.
The $10,000 wager on Eduardo is the biggest bet placed on any horse to win this year’s TAB Everest, which was open for betting minutes after Yes Yes Yes was victorious almost 11 months ago.
Eduardo has won five of his 14 races including the 1100-metre July Sprint at Rosehill Gardens on July 25 and the 1200-metre Missile Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on August 8.
Eduardo has been nominated for The Shorts over 1100 metres at Randwick this Saturday and has shortened in ‘All In’ betting from $8 to $7 after one bet of $3000 at $8 was placed.
TAB’s representative for the TAB Everest, Nature Strip, is currently the $3.50 favourite.
