Caulfield Race Two Number 1 Signoff ($5.00):
$5? Seriously? I thought $4.40 was a gift for Lucia Valentina…is it December 25? I’ll concede his two runs this time in haven’t been inspiring, but he gets out to an ideal trip and compared to what he is facing in the Melbourne Cup, with no disrespect, these are camels. If he is going to be a Cup contender, he has to beat these, and everything says he should. $5 is a steal.
Rosehill Race One Number 11 Plot Twist ($67):
I am not sure he can win, but he is certainly worth an each way ticket at $67. Trials and first up run reminded me of a camel, but he was much better last time out at Kembla Grange behind a Stakes performer in Karaka Lass. Getting fitter now, on the minimum and is in the right stable. Deserves to be a roughie yes, but not $67.
Eagle Farm Race Two Number 6 Rumba Queen ($8.00):
I thought she’d be nearly favourite in this race, not at $8. She was backed as if unbeatable when debuting at Doomben and duly saluted after doing everything right. Draws a soft gate here, not much depth, stable in form…should be shorter IMO.
Morphettville Parks Race One Number 5 Dane Hussler ($12):
Potentially will shorten if Name The Day comes out given he is a dual acceptor. Dane Hussler was pretty good I thought when resuming. Got a long way back, was off the bit, but chased and was solid late in the piece. Up in trip is perfect, senior rider on and trialled well prior. Can certainly entertain her each way.
