A star studded field has been assembled for the King Charles lll Stakes (1600m) at Randwick this Saturday.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025Β King Charles III Stakes.
2025 King Charles III Stakes Runner Preview:
1. Mr Brightside: Absolute war horse this guy. He was there to be beaten in the Makybe Diva but the race shape ended up being perfect. Totally different set up this time around, he has to chase Jenni again…he’s so damn genuine and will try hard.
2. Royal Patronage: I thought he was quite plain in the Bill Ritchie but he was first up, topweight and perhaps just needed the run. He should get run of the race here and he is a gun miler when right.
3. Ceolwulf: Joe has said he hasn’t been effective on wet ground, now he wants wet ground, he wants to be ridden forward, he was last start and was weak late…if he wins, too good, but for me, he’s just not the horse he was last year.
4. Lake Forest: He’s an elite 1400m/1600m horse…I do think maybe better at 1400m, but William Haggas in Sydney…you just have to respect and this horse did thrive when winning the Golden Eagle. Maps to do no work and be effective late.
5. Tom Kitten: Been a messy prep and can’t see him measuring up.
6. Pericles: Pericles is flying for Bjorn Baker. Sharp winner fresh in the Tramway before going to the Epsom where he had the back of Autumn Glow but didn’t have the required turn of foot to run her down but he was still good in defeat. Hard fit now, he’s a must for exotics.
7. Yellow Brick: He’d struggle to win at Toowoomba never mind an elite mile race at WFA.
8. Pier: Thought he’d run a beauty in the Epsom but was ridden warm and just didn’t fire. He maps much better this time around and off his first up run, i can see him running first four at a price.
9. El Castello: Just not sure he has come back well and is not up to these.
10. Fangirl: Fangirl is a star mare, she loves the Randwick mile and loves dry ground. She has been freshened up since the 7 Stakes where she really knuckled down with purpose late to wear down Lindermann and nail him right on the peg, with that horse spanking them in the Hill Stakes last Saturday. Loved the way she went in a trial last week behind Linebacker, she’s the one to beat for me.
11. Pride Of Jenni: Pride Of Jenni…I think it was the first time since she became a star that Bates rated her in front instead of going hard from a long way. In the Feehan, she took her time to get the front, had control, then from around the 800m she rolled and broke the hearts of her rivals. The form out of that race has been awful so the jury is out but with her racing style, she’s going to give you an almighty sight.
12. Within The Law: Talented filly but the weight is the reason why she is $21 and not $201 here, which is what she should be. Got none.

2025 King Charles III Stakes Speed Map
Seems pretty straight forward here with Pride Of Jenni leading. Who will take the field up to her? Mr Brightside has proven before he can’t. Pericles and Royal Patronage should settle handy. El Castello could slide forward from a wide gate.
