Flemington- Friday, August 7, Weather Fine, Track Good 4.
Heat Three- Yesterday’s Songs (1st):
Talented type who hasn’t raced since June 13 when winning a heat of the Winter Championship where he proved too good for Mr Utopia. He trialled here and went great, sitting on speed throughout before being clicked up over the final 100m and sprinting sharply late to win impressively. He won’t be winning any majors, but he’ll be competitive at Listed/Group lll level.
Talented mare who did little during the Autumn, but she looks on track to be a force in the Spring based on this particular jump out. She jumped okay and settled just off the pace before railing up well to be the joint leader and though beaten narrowly, she was under a really good hold from Dunn. It’ll be interesting to see how she shapes up.
Heat Five- Sistonic (1st):
The boom on her was huge given she was Black Caviars younger sister, and that she won her first two starts very impressively. Spelled after failing on Australian Cup Day, but she looks to be in for a huge Spring based on this jump out. She sat wide no cover on speed throughout but just ambled to the front on the turn and Walker had her under triple wraps to win and win impressively. Best of the morning by some distance.
Heat Seven- Reemah (3rd):
Blue Diamond runner up who then failed in the Slipper. Spelled since and looks set for a decent Spring after a solid jump out performance here, where he held the lead near the inside and he wasn’t pushed out at any stage by Walker, eventually running a close up third. Impressive and should acquit himself well during the Carnival.
