The best supported runner in the race, Crackneck was backed from $6.50 in the morning to bottom out at $4.60 but at the start, $5 was being offered.

In the end there wasn’t much between the Allan Kehoe gelding and Toro Toro ($3.40-$4.80), which was a noted drifter, in terms of the hold but the latter still held slight favouritism.

Shanaya ($17-$10) ran right up to the support for it by running a cheeky race out in front and was only nabbed late.

BETS: Toro Toro $2,000 @ $4.80, $1,500 @ $4.80

Hugh Bowman timed his run perfectly on the Dream Ahead mare to get the result over The Face ($4.20), which held twice as much as the winner. Redoute’s Image ($14) had light specking at the price and wound up third in front of Selburose ($8.50-$7).

Leading throughout with Jason Collett in the saddle, Significance went on to beat He Runs Away with Purrfect Deal and Windermere dead-heating for third.

The son of Fastnet Rock opened at $8 on Wednesday and immediately came in for support, which continued in the days leading up to the race.

With $5 on the table for most of the day, a late rally saw him start $4.60 but his grip on favouritism was surrendered to Ashema ($5-$3.60). The pair cleared out from the rest to fight out the finish.

Overmann ($4.40-$4) held plenty of money and was the third most popular runner outside the quinella pairing while Volcanic Rock ($9) had plenty of admirers at the eachway quote.
