RACE TWO

It was an upset in the second event of the day with Savvy Oaks ($21-$19) getting the money for Damian Lane in the Very Special Kids Pin & Win Plate (2000 metres).

The Busuttin & Young runner was the least popular runner outside $34 shot El Don and only held a fraction of what race favourite Grinzinger Star ($3.20-$2.60-$2.90) did.

The fav was responsible for 44 percent of the money and held more than the second and third picks in Wetakemanhattan ($4.80) and Starcaster ($5) did combined.

Banquo was the only horse that had any real support to knock over the favourite, Knickpoint.

The World Horse Racing Springtime Stakes (1400 metres) was dominated from a betting perspective by the Godolphin runner, which went around as a very popular $2.40 favourite. Knickpoint was four times as popular as anything else.

Nature Strip was $4.40-$3.70 in the Darley Sprint Classic (1200 metres) and landed some nice bets.

Despite being a firmer in betting, he was still shaded in terms of the hold by Santa Ana Lane ($2.25-$2.15-$2.25) which was nearly 10 times as popular as the winner.

In fact, Santa Ana Lane went around as one of the most popular horses in terms of hold in the country today.

Loving Gaby ($6.50) held more than the winner with only Santa Ana Lane in front of her in that regard but again, it was only a fraction of what the Anthony Freedman runner held.

California Longbow was a losing result for TAB in the Ranvet Handicap (1800 metres).

The Peter & Paul Snowden runner went around with the most money in the race and hovered around the $6-$6.50 mark for most of the day after being $10 on Wednesday.

Pressure, $10 opening price, was the most dramatic firmer as it started $5 favourite while Falcon Island ($5.500 and Eugenes Pick ($7-$8.50-$7.50) had admirers.

BETS: California Longbow $1,000 @ $6.50, $1,000 @ $6

RACE FIVE

There was a very late push for Ready For Danger which came off in a big way in The Country Classic (2000 metres).

Tanker went around as the dominant pick with TAB customers with the $3 favourite responsible for a tick over 50 percent of the money.

SKY Racing’s Lizzie Jelfs’ had the Canberra-based galloper as her pick of the yard, however, he didn’t attract a great deal of support at the price.

Trumbull was a sensational go which started on Wednesday and was $4.40 at that point. Today, he was $2.70-$2.60 and easily most popular in front of Roosevelt ($6.50) and Echo Jet ($8-$6.50-$7.50).

One TAB customer would be cursing their luck in the photo finish after riding Americana Magic ($19) to a potential collect of $72,000.
