2026 Queensland Oaks Runner Preview:
1. Panova: Has been kept on ice since the SA Oaks triumph, getting an all time ride by J Mac in the process to get the job done. IMO, that was a terrible race, she got the ride to win and barely saw the 2000m out, so for mine, 2200m has to be a query. Keen to oppose.
2. Single Red: I think if Collett had his time again, he wouldn’t have gone so slow in The Roses on her. Just went way too slow and set it up for something with a turn of foot. She’ll run the trip and is dangerous.
3. Fireball Miss: Blessed with the run/ride in The Roses. Talented, but I think she won’t get it handed to her on a platter like last start.
4. Paltrow Miss: Just missed in the SA Oaks but as stated above, I thought that race was ordinary
5. Silvasista: Trip is no issue but just don’t think she has the class.
6. Soverato: I want to be against her. She got a fair way back in The Roses but in saying that, thought she had her chance to finish off and get there, but whacked late. There will be improvement to come, but enough to win? I say no.
7. Grand Omaha: Grand Omaha is flying for Matt Laurie. She comes through The Roses when off speed and went off the track on the turn when checked but loved the way she balanced up and found the line when third. She’ll eat up 2200m and hopefully gets a clear path to wind into her work. Just the rider…he’s scary at the moment.
8. Chispa: Chispa was a good second in The Roses. She wasn’t suited by the race shape but I liked the way she kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. Waller in a Grand Final, she commands respect as a leading contender.
9. Fringes: Tough win in the SA Fillies Classic but that race may as well have been a Class One at Taree on a Tuesday. Just no depth to it at all.
10. Solid Gold: A clear top seed for me. I think Tommy had to ride her the way he did in the Derby to find a spot, and he did, but that early burn in a fast run race, it just told on her late. She has a gate this time to do no work in the run, has the runs on the board, and if she handles the back up, she’s the one to beat.
11. Parvenu: Didn’t do a bad job in The Roses but I have others ahead of her.
12. Zuleika: Was set a task in The Roses and tired late. More patient steer, she could pinch first four.
13. Norty Forty: Won a nothing race at Ipswich. Not for me here.
14. Panda’s Spectrum: Ran third in the SA Fillies Classic. Given a great ride, but had her chance, and this is much harder.
15. Highgrove Rose: Trip is no issue but lacks the class.
16. Tarntanya: Making up the numbers.
17. Sheeza Diva: Sheeza Diva steps up to 2200m after racing over 1800m two weeks back at Randwick when off speed but saved ground nearer the inside and drove hard late when fourth. Has looked a filly for this race all prep…is she good enough? Maybe not, but a must include in exotics.
18. Crathie Kirk: Was found out in The Roses. Not for me.
19. Kickuphigh (First Emergency): SCR
20. Polo (Second Emergency): SCR
21. Pink Vixen (Third Emergency): SCR
22. Sunsprite (Fourth Emergency): SCR
23. Angel City (Fifth Emergency): SCR

2026 Queensland Oaks Speed Map
Can’t see much early front end pressure here. Norty Forty, Single Red and Zuleika, and to a lesser extent Panda’s Spectrum, look your main three speed players as they head out of the straight the first time. Solid Gold and Panova should lob into beaut spots just off the speed. Chispa will likely be dragged back to last.
