Albury
$30 Win/$70 Place British Isle R7 @ $11/$3.5 (Sportsbet)
Albury Overview:
Potential deductions on the cards but I’ll cop them with this horse, a noted swimmer who is starting to find some form. Really odd steer from McDougall at this track two back before Courtney Gillman jumped back on at the Sapphire Coast and liked the way he found the line against the track pattern behind Jarrett. Has the mile run under the belt and with only 53kg on his back, with good wet track, I reckon he’s a great each way gamble.
Pakenham Synthetic
$100 Win Zoffany Rose R8 @ $4.4 (Sportsbet)
Pakenham Synthetic Overview:
I don’t think the $4.40 will last with this mare. I think the Feek team have her flying and now third up on what I think is her preferred racing surface, the Synthetic, she just needs luck from the draw and she’ll be winning. Good first up over the mile here, an unsuitable trip, behind Dash For Dee, before going to Mornington when tracking the speed and battling away really well in defeat behind the in form Tata Da Goose. Will need luck from the draw, but with metro form next to her name against moderate opposition, I think she’s clearly the one to beat.
$100 Multi (Tote)
Martha’s Pocket R2 Bathurst Win
Moralist R7 Bathurst Place
Tourniquet R6 Pakenham Synthetic Place
Sunquest R7 Pakenham Synthetic Place
Overview:
Made Martha’s Pocket the good thing of the day when odds weren’t up on Friday. $1.45 is very short so taking a multi. Moralist is a Matty Smith trained gelding who got too far back at Scone but made up good ground and can sit much closer in the run from the draw. Looks ready for the 1200m. Tourniquet is rarely out of the money for Colin Scott and from the inside gate with a good record on the Synthetic, he looks a good thing to run top three. Sunquest is a bludger but that can be said about most of his rivals. His past couple of runs on the Synthetic from tricky draws have been good. Has gate one to take advantage of and will go awfully close. I think maybe around the $5.50-$6 mark for this multi, looks pretty solid.
