Race One Number 4 Start Wondering (1st):
I’ve said it many times, and I stand by it. I think this horse is a future Group l winner. Had to lump the 58kg, first run in a month on a heavy track and he absolutely toyed with a rock hard fit stablemate who loves the mud. He’s better than benchmark company. Like him alot.
Race Five Number 13 Spright (6th):
From the two year old races, this is the one I clearly want to follow. Her trial win at Hawkesbury was sharp and was specked at odds here. Got back to last in the run, had to go to the inside and worked home powerfully to finish 6th, but probably should have run second. Interesting to note she isn’t paid up for the Slipper…but gee I think if she wins a lead up, you’d be very tempted.

Race One Number 6 Supido (1st):
Looks a future Stakes winner. Had to do the donkey work and go to the leaders near the inside, which wasn’t the spot to be, yet he cruised to the front and won very impressively. Serious, serious horse.
Race Eight Number 6 Auld Burns (5th):
Gearing up for a campaign over the sticks, but this effort was great. Four wide for the trip yet still kept coming for a closing fifth. Brings that effort to the jumps and he’ll be winning, and he could pinch a race on the flat too.

Race Two Number 10 Istanbul (7th):
If there was an excuse, I’d say he was near the inside. But in saying that, winners did come near the inside. He had a 5kg+ weight swing on Hermosa Beach yet that horse beat him by four lengths. Cannot be trusted.
Race Six Number 6 Another Cocktail (4th) and 11 Frank Who (Last):
Another Cocktail might just need the spelling paddock now. Could not have been ridden better by Bowman here, but he was pretty weak at the finish and did nothing over the final 100m or so. As for Frank Who, he ran last again and something is wrong with him.

Anything near the inside:
Horses like Tidy Prophet, Miss Softhands, Pattern and The Quarterback should be forgiven. Inside was the no go zone.
