Race Five Number 6 Tree Of Jesse (1st):
Didn’t come up in the Spring, so the stable gave her a freshen up, trialled well, and she duly won here, despite sitting three and four wide no cover throughout, and despite the wet track probably making that not so much a disadvantage, she still covered ground. She can go on with now and get back to Stakes level.
Race Seven Number 14 Soros (7th):
I thought this bloke was a real eye catcher at his debut for Joe Pride. Sat last in the run and was off the bit before the turn, but he peeled to the extreme outside and worked home well late. He is better on firmer footing and at a longer trip, so I am sure he’ll be competitive this prep.
Race Eight Number 3 Husson Eagle (3rd):
When this bloke goes back to Melbourne, he will be winning. He bolted up as if he was going to blow them away here, but the wheels just spun on the heavy track. He will be winning races sooner rather than later.
Caulfield:
Race Four Number 4 Sense And Reason (4th):
Was run off her legs early on, but her last 250-300m was excellent. Great pointer for her and her Melbourne campaign one would suspect, perhaps on a bigger track like Flemington.
Race Five Number 3 Pink Perfection (1st):
Was really surprised that this mare was around the $10-$11 mark. Her jump outs were very impressive, and she was ridden quite arrogantly here by Bossy, and won with plenty in reserve. She’s in for a good prep, and could well look for blacktype, possibly in Tassie?
Gold Coast
Race Four Number 11 Slumber Party (2nd):
This could be a sleeper in the Millions. She was huge in defeat here, running sub 34 for the first 600m. Beat the rest off but couldn’t hold out Zelady’s Night Out, who had the charmed run behind. Should improve big time off that and we know Gai and her record in the Magic Millions.
Race Seven Number 3 Miss Cover Girl (4th):
Heavily backed to win here, but a somewhat negative ride put pay to her winning prospects. Was one of only a few for the entire program to make up ground from last. She’s knocking on the door.

Race Three Number 4 Sebrina (5th):
Third consecutive Saturday she has stepped out, and I think she showed in this race that she might need a break. Didn’t really do a great deal despite some market support.
Race Five Number 4 Karakuchi (9th):
Was well backed, but she was gone before the turn and really floundered when asked by Tommy Berry. She is much better than that, but she is becoming very costly to follow.
Caulfield:
Race Eight Number 2 Sistine Demon (Last):
Really good first up run, but his next two have just been pathetic. Stay well clear of him for now…and perhaps for good.
Caulfield Race Five Number 2 Celeritas (5th)- Jackie Beriman:
Last on the fence from gate two shortly after the start. Wasn’t pretty if you backed her, because your ticket was pretty much torn up after a few strides. She produced a gem on Danestroem…not so much here.
