There was some pretty solid racing across the country on Saturday, with Ipswich the main focus for Cup Day. Who got the pass marks? Find out down below:

Race One Number 1 Artie Dee Two (1st):
The bias certainly helped him, but sitting three/four wide no cover on speed at start number two and still win is the signs of a very good horse. Little break for him I hope and come back to target some good races in the Spring. He is well above average.
Race Eight Number 4 Chance To Dance (5th):
Clear run of the day. Given the way the track played, his winning claims were toast, but still, he had no right to make up as much ground as he did. A win is close by.

Rosehill:
Race Seven Number 9 Invinzabeel (7th):
He was backed late to win after the quick back up from Monday, and though he was in the worst part of the track, he was still pretty disappointing I think and is a non winner for mine.
Race Nine Number 6 Lord Leofric (11th):
People need to stop tipping this horse. He just isn’t the same horse he was this time 12 months ago.

Race Four Number 9 Dig A Pony (Last)
Hmm. Maybe dig a paddock for retirement?
Rosehill Race Six Number 6 Avonaco (1st)- Hugh Bowman:
The stint in Japan looks to have really sharpened him up, because at the moment, there is a space between himself and the rest of the Sydney Jockeys room. Wide gate and slots in 1/1 shortly after the start. Painless soon after. Brilliant to watch.
(Thursday) Taree Race Six Number 6 Rainbow River (9th)- Thomas Huet:
I am a huge fan of Thomas Huet. I think he is a gun rider…but after watching this replay…I doubt he’ll be riding anytime soon if the Stewards are fair dinkum.
