Kim and Mark Waugh finally release the shackles on a potential star 3YO filly at Gosford today.
Her name is LINGUEE (Panzer Division-Wonderful News) and no, she is not in either of the big races on the card.
They being the $150,000 Gosford Guineas which MALKOVICH (Choisir-Mabkhara) which should lead all the way and win, or the Belle Of The Turf worth $160,000 a race likely to go to SAUSEDGE (Shamus Award-Alternative Edge).
She was eligible for both, but the Waughs have her in a maiden over 1100m worth $35,000 instead.
It is race 2, so shop early.
Those who follow racing on a deep level will know that this filly won a trial recently in such a dominant, arrogant manner, the likes of which you just don’t see. Especially from an unraced galloper.
So they entered her for today.
She drew 16 in a field of 16 a gate that no first starter ever debuts from.
Yet, the Waughs booked top rider James McDonald and didn’t bat an eye lid at the gate, expecting her to charge out, cross the field and lead all the way.
You sense they know just what she is capable of.
She certainly looks talented enough although this is a handy maiden field.
I love watching the game day from young horses who show massive talent at trackwork, jump outs and in trials.
And we see that with Linguee today – who was $3.45 with Palmerbet at 9:45am this morning!
Good luck Team Waugh.
