Antonio Padre R2
Lucky Helmet R6
Level Eight R8
Warwick Farm Overview: Normally on guard with these Warwick Farm midweek meetings but do think it’s a good one this time around. Antonio Padre is closely related to Press Statement and Pressday. This colt had nothing go right for him on debut under the lights at Canterbury in a total forgive behind Castelvecchio where he was hard in the market. Been given two trials leading up to his return and has looked quite good. Lucky Helmet is potentially on the QLD Oaks path and should take some beating in the sixth. Loved the way she closed off from the back where first up behind Fasika, who franked that form in the South Pacific Classic on the weekend. Should run top three. Level Eight doesn’t have the greatest of winning strike rates but his two runs back from a break have been full of merit and he finds a winnable race. I think he’s definite value and with three wide cover from the gate, he’ll only run well.
Geelong
$30 Win Mugato R1 @ $3.6 (BetEasy)
$5 Win/$15 Place Fiorente Lass R2 (Tote)
$50 Win Petrelle R9 (Tote)
Geelong Overview: Really like the way Mugato has trialled in readiness for his debut. Mark Young trains this gelding, who is well related and comes here off the back of two jumpouts, firstly at Geelong when winning that one on speed before going to Camperdown when tardy away but picked up and liked the way he attacked the line to win the trial, beating some handy gallopers. $3.60 looks more than acceptable. Fiorente Lass is on debut for Steve Pateman and I think she’ll get to $20+. Definitely worth an each way speck for mine off the back of an Avoca jumpout where she got off the speed and was never going to win but she closed off really strongly. Very weak maiden here and will do no work from the gate. Happy to have something on her each way. No prizes for finding Petrelle. She’s one of mine and looks a good thing. Will say that $1.60 is far too short and would want $2+ so taking the tote and hoping she gets to black figures. Went like an absolute jet in winning a recent Camperdown jumpout and ran fast time relative to the morning. Should win but no spoils re price.
