$100 Cristovao R3 @ $3 (Sportsbet)
Mackay Overview:
The $3 looks more than acceptable for Cristovao to break the maiden tag. Made him the best of the day off the back of an excellent second first up over 1200m at the track on a bog when given a sweet steer by Haley and looking home but was pipped late. Can handle all conditions, so weather no issue whatever it produces and stable rider Justin Stanley takes over. Imay Shout had her first run for Coome at Rockhampton and ran well but that maiden had little to no depth engaged so for mine, Cristovao should be a clear favourite.
Tamworth
$100 Win Greenskeeper R3 @ $5.50 (Sportsbet)
Tamworth Overview:
Potential egg on the face here, but I can’t work out why Greenskeeper is $5.50 alongside High Flight. At Newcastle, Greenskeeper was unlucky yet still beat High Flight home by a couple of lengths then at Taree, Greenskeeper again was held up and cut back to inferior ground nearer the inside and still beat High Flight. Gets the blinkers, an inside gate, and now has the 1600m run under the belt. $5.50 High Flight looks severe unders IMO. Populist is a nice horse but gate 18 at Tamworth…no thanks. Eskhara I could make a case for, but a tricky draw and a horrible racing pattern, so for mine, the $5.50 looks very much acceptable for Greenskeeper. Just hoping he can take advantage of the inside gate.
