Randwick will host the $1 million 7 Stakes (1600m) on Saturday, a weight-for-age feature introduced to replace the George Main Stakes, now shifted later in the spring as the King Charles III Stakes.
A quality field is expected with proven Group 1 performers and rising stars among the likely nominations. Joe Pride has entered Private Eye and Ceolwulf, while Ciaron Maher is set to saddle up Gringotts and high-class import Light Infantry Man, with Ethan Brown booked to ride.
Chris Waller brings his usual firepower, nominating Fangirl, Militarize, Lindermann and Kovalica. Fangirl will again be partnered by James McDonald as she looks to continue her strong form at a mile.
With elite milers assembling and plenty at stake ahead of bigger spring targets, the 7 Stakes is shaping as one of the highlights of the Randwick program.
