The Group 1 Moir Stakes, now rescheduled to Saturday from its usual AFL Grand Final eve spot, has been well received by trainers and owners. A strong field of Group 1 performers is expected to line up for the 1000m sprint at Moonee Valley.
Leading the field is I Wish I Win, with new season three-year-old fillies Hayasugi and Lady Of Camelot also set to compete. Estriella is likely to start as the favourite with betting sites after impressive jumpouts at Cranbourne.
Bold Bastille will bypass the Moir Stakes to target next week’s Cap D’Antibes Stakes. Caballus is expected to accept a spot in the Moir, while Aft Cabin remains a possible entry but may contest the Concorde Stakes at Randwick instead.
Three other Stakes races will be featured: the Atlantic Jewel Stakes, McKenzie Stakes, and Chautauqua Stakes, all over 1200m.
Jockey bookings include Kerrin McEvoy on Coleman and Zac Lloyd on Lady Of Camelot, while Mark Zahra rides Johnny Rocker. Craig Williams will miss Moonee Valley, opting to ride Bella Nipotina in the Concorde Stakes in Sydney.
