Bellazaine is one of the leading contenders in the Champagne Stakes
While Vinrock has been sent to the paddock following last weekend’s Group 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes, several key runners from that race are expected to back up in Saturday’s Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.
Buffalo, who will be partnered by Kerrin McEvoy for trainer David Atkins, is among the notable contenders, alongside fellow Sires participants State Visit, Bellazaine, and Federalist.
Nepotism, who scored a strong win in the Bailleu Handicap, is confirmed for the race, while Fernhill Mile victor Spicy Lu is another likely runner, giving the race a strong blend of proven and emerging juvenile talent.
