The Apollo Stakes, the highlight of the day at Randwick, will see the return of Via Sistina, widely regarded as Australia’s best horse after her dominant spring campaign.
Kerrin McEvoy will ride her on Saturday, while James McDonald will race in Melbourne.
She may be joined by stablemates Fangirl, Atishu, Lindermann, and Land Legend.
Godolphin could field a few runners, including Pericles, Tom Kitten, Zardozi, and Golden Mile, with Pericles possibly heading to Melbourne for next week’s Futurity Stakes instead.
Excitement is building for Ceolwulf’s participation in the race, especially with the potential clash between him and Via Sistina. The Australian Turf Club has centered much of its marketing around these two horses, adding to the anticipation.
