Luke Nolen is reportedly disappointed after being passed over for the ride on I Wish I Win in the upcoming Group 1 Doomben 10,000. Nolen has ridden the horse in eight of its ten Australian races, but missed the recent TJ Smith Stakes due to injury.
Nolen’s wife, Alicia, expressed the frustration of her husband on social media, stating he was “completely shattered” by the decision.
Trainer Peter Moody confirmed the jockey change, revealing that his managing partner had the final say. While Moody empathized with Nolen, he respected the decision.
James McDonald, who rode I Wish I Win to a third-place finish in the TJ Smith Stakes, will retain the mount for the Doomben 10,000. I Wish I Win remains the favorite for the race.
Despite the setback, Nolen has upcoming rides this Saturday and could potentially reunite with I Wish I Win in future races.
