Fresh from a victorious outing with Hennessy Lad at Moonee Valley, Katherine Coleman is already plotting her next big move.
Having teamed up with renowned trainer Peter Moody since the start of the month, she’s on the fast track to her G1 debut—thanks to her star runner, TJ Smith Stakes winner, I Wish I Win.
Jockey Luke Nolen will steer I Wish I Win through the 1400-metre G1 Memsie Stakes, setting the stage for the duo’s ultimate goal: conquering The Everest in Sydney.
The choice of the Memsie as a lead-up isn’t by-the-book.
With no suitable preparatory races on the calendar, Coleman and Moody are opting for a three-week breathing space between competitions.
But it’s not just about filling a race calendar.
Coleman sees untapped potential in I Wish I Win.
Known for his versatility over different distances, the focus now shifts to keeping him in optimal form.
With the Everest as the end game, maintaining his well-being in the weeks ahead is top priority.
As for Moody, he’s currently across the Tasman at Waikato Stud in New Zealand, in discussions with the Chittick family, the part-owners and breeders of I Wish I Win.
