Race 1. (15:05) Crystal Slipper Stakes 1100m
I reckon Team Pearce have told Pike they have a juvenile for you to steer on Railway Day that goes pretty good, by the name of 10 Platinum Shot (Bet Now: $4.20). Pike trialled her at Lark Hill on Monday and I thought she was one of the standouts of the morning the way she moved on speed and could have won the trial by several lengths if the handbrake came off. Draws soft, Pike on, winnable race…I think she’s one of the better bets on the card.
11 Rubick Lass (Bet Now: $7.00) is a David Harrison trained filly that is on debut. Rubick filly that has had a couple of trials to get ready for start one, the latest on Monday at Lark Hill over 400m where she seemed to move pretty well I thought. 400m trials I take with a grain of salt but the stable are very good with their juveniles.
1 Ancietn Guidance (Bet Now: $14.00) is a son of God Has Spoken that is on debut for Ryan Hill. He has had two trials to get ready for start one, the first trial being so so but the Blinkers went on in the second trial and he went much better, winning it. He needs to improve to win but this stable can get them ready fresh.
Race 2. (15:45) Tabtouch-Better Your Bet-Bm66+ 2200m
There are two schools of thought with 6 Coolth (Bet Now: $4.80). First, given he has the Seymour Bloodstock colours, this could be a final run for Team McEvoy before staying wtih Neville Parnham. Or second thought, Team McEvoy think he is a Perth Cup horse and are here to go through the grades. Thinking it’s the latter, and he does bring totally different form. But off his good last start effort at Flemington, you’d think he has a bit on these.
4 Zadar Rock (Bet Now: $11.00) will jump on the bunny and run a bold race. First look at a staying trip came here two weeks ago over 2100m where he led throughout and really, he spanked his rivals. Depth here is much stronger, but he has the right racing pattern and you’d think will improve from last time.
11 Bannana (Bet Now: $14.00) is a little query at the trip and should be around the mark as a first four contender. Ran over 1800m here three weeks back where she did a bit of work from the wide gate but kept finding the line when second to Ghobella. Gets run of the race from the inside gate, which should somewhat offset the distance query.
Race 3. (16:25) Drummond Golf (Bm72+) 1000m
3 Flying Missile (Bet Now: $6.00) is a mare that is better suited over further, but the map just looks so ideal for her to run a positive race fresh for the Parnham camp. She hasn’t raced since July 27 when an all the way winner over 1400m at Belmont, beating home a field which had good depth to it. Trial win to get ready was good, she’ll stalk Lexington City and be strong late.
7 Lexington City (Bet Now: $5.00) should lead this field up comfortably and he is a good horse when he gets control from the front, so that’s why he commands respect. Just a win last Wednesday but gets good weight relief from that and fourth up now, he should be 100% at his peak in regards to fitness.
9 Pixie Chix (Bet Now: $6.50) lacks the class of some of these, but is capable with the right run in transit. Hasn’t raced since October 1 during the Kalgoorlie Carnival when a close up second to Can’t Be Done. Might want the run, and drawn tricky, but she does have quality when right.
Race 4. (17:05) Amelia Park (Bm66+) 1400m
Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 15 Zephyra (Bet Now: $4.00). Unbeaten record went on the line two weeks ago when resuming over 1200m here. She got back from the wide gate and was never really a factor behind Written Matter, who spanked them from the front. Draws to settle much closer in the run and I do think 1400m is ideal.
8 Trade War (Bet Now: $8.00) is knocking on the door to win. Ran over this track/distance a fortnight back where he surged hard late and thought he was going to win but the bob of the head went the way of in form mare Stellar Vista. Harder here, but is fourth up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness.
3 Downforce (Bet Now: $34.00) is a sneaky chance at a big price. Resumed in the same race that Zephyra contested and I actually thought he worked to the line pretty well, finishing alongside that mare. The wide gate means he’ll be spotting them a decent start but should be strong late.
Race 5. (17:45) Jungle Mist Classic 1200m
She is an absolute beauty 5 Sniparoochy (Bet Now: $2.25) and it’s hard to get away from her. Backed with confidence when resuming over 1000m here three weeks ago and the bets were landed. She got on speed quite comfortably before being clicked up by Brad Parnham and away she went, spanking her rivals in fast time. Fitter, up to 1200m, with upside…like her alot.
2 Angelic Miss (Bet Now: $11.00) is a quality mare for Simon Miller that resumes. She hasn’t raced since the Winter where she had a two run prep and didn’t really fire relative to her lofty standards from this time last year when winning this race. Given a good break with this in mind and her trials have been strong.
11 Real Grace (Bet Now: $13.00) deserves a look. Ran over this track/distance two weeks back where she was dragged back from the wide gate and was never really a factor behind Written Matter. Pike is on for this race, and given she’s a mare in a blacktype race, she does command respect.
Race 6. (18:25) Carbine Club Of W.A. Stakes 1400m
9 It’sarayday (Bet Now: $8.50) looks ready to win. He ran over 1200m here last Saturday where he came off the big quite quickly but really liked the way he finished his race off behind a pretty solid horse, Hot Zed. Love him up to 1400m and I think will have a decent head start on key threat Devoted.
7 Devoted (Bet Now: $3.00), if he drew a decent gate, would win this by a big margin. But like last Saturday, he has drawn wide again and will need luck. I’m not blaming Pike for the defeat last Saturday in the Peters. He tried to ride with intent but it didn’t work out, and was caught wide no cover. He did an excellent job to finish as close as he did. Hard to beat if that hasn’t busted him.
13 Panzdown (Bet Now: $14.00) is a sneaky chance at a price. He ran third in the Hot Zed race mentioned above from last Saturday and he was very good late after getting a mile out of his ground. Little bit of an unknown at 1400m but off last start, I think he’ll relish it and is a knockout chance.
Race 7. (19:05) W.A. Guineas 1600m
Back to set weights, hard fit and up to the mile, I think it is a case of good luck beating 15 Amelia’s Jewel (Bet Now: $2.05). Like most, was red hot on her in the Burgess Queen on Cup Day but just think the weight difference beat her in the end when second to Laced Up Heels. Back to set weights now, drawn well, she’s clearly the one to beat.
Beware the unbeaten horse and that is what 6 Bustler (Bet Now: $4.20) is. 4/4 to start his career, the latest win being two weeks ago in the Fairetha where he really had to knuckle down late to win and he did, surging to win in the last stride. 1600m looks ideal and maps to get a sweet trip.
The gate looks tricky for 2 Saintorio (Bet Now: $19.00) but the positive for him is that he’s got the 1600m lead up under the belt, which was a win against the older horses. I don’t think he has the brilliance of the two above, so I suspect Parnham will push forward and try to break their heart.
Race 8. (19:45) Railway Stakes 1600m
The WA brigade, as a whole, look even, so I want to go with the class, which clearly lies with 2 Yonkers (Bet Now: $18.00). He’s probably got eyes on the Northerly, but I think given his record and recent form, gee he’s well weighted. Has the rock hard fitness base for a tough mile and gets Paul Harvey.
If this becomes a sit/sprint, then 10 Karli’s Karma (Bet Now: $7.50) is the winner because she has a brilliant turn of foot. Month between runs when racing in the Lee Steere and she tried her guts out but couldn’t quite pick up Massimo. Has upside to come and the mile should be fine. Hard to beat.
9 Ironclad (Bet Now: $10.00) is dangerous. He ran last Saturday in the Cranbourne Cup where the rub of the green didn’t quite go his way but I loved how he kept finding the line behind Uncle Bryn. Seven day back up is always a good recipe and stable rarely get it wrong when they travel.
Race 9. (20:20) $4Million Quokka Slot (Bm72+) 1600m
Massive jockey upgrade and a better gate, I am keen on 13 Chiclett (Bet Now: $19.00) running a much improved race. She has been good in two runs back from a spell, each time drawing wide and seeing her go back in the run, finding the line well without threatening. Chris Parnham on, better gate, can settle much closer in the run…she’s an each way bet for sure.
9 Above The Peg (Bet Now: $5.00) is a little query at the mile but he’s only third up and is finding the line like it will be okay. Ran over 1400m here two weeks ago and was solid late without really threatening behind Big Screen. He does race like 1600m will suit and he certainly has the talent to take this out.
11 Piccola Signorina (Bet Now: $21.00) might want it easier, but she’s one I can entertain for wider multiples. Market didn’t want a bar of her when resuming two weeks back here behind Big Screen and ran accordingly, beating one runner home. Gets in well after the claim and her best can see her sneak a first four spot at a big price.
