Total Recall a son of Animal Kingdom was having his first start at the races and punters thought he was a good thing backing the horse from $6.50 opening quote with Sportsbet into $1.70 at jump time and at the turn they would have been counting their money.
Jockey Ashley Morgan had the horse in the box seat throughout but was held up around the turn and laboured a little early in the straight as the eventual winner Lord Magnussen circled around the hot pot and did enough to hold off the favourite in the final stages of the race.
